Emerging Writers Invited to Take the Stage During Literary Festival
CKNX hosts Reading Aloud Allowed in Huron
Emerging writers of all types are invited to participate in the ALICE MUNRO WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL's newest event, Reading Aloud Allowed in Huron. Hosted at the vintage television studio at the CKNX Radio Station at 215 Carling Terrace in Wingham, this open mic style event promises creative writers of poetry, comedy, non-fiction, fiction, or music an opportunity to share their work with an appreciative audience. Writers are encouraged to prepare a 3-5 minute presentation from their own repertoire. Whether your first time dipping your feet into the water or belly flopping into a mire, we just want you to show up and go up! Bring your positive attitude and expectations of a really good time. This is a free event.
We’ll get started with scheduled appearances by Scott Cowan (comedy), John Cull (poetry), Hayley Linfield (author), Jennifer Zoethout (comedy), and Ted the Purolator Guy (musician).
Celebrate great stories and storytellers during the ALICE MUNRO WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL, September 28th and 29th, at venues across North Huron where you'll find celebrity panel discussions and writers workshops; Peggy Coffey sharing stories of 100 years of the Women's Institute; walking tours, and an Evening Celebration "Appreciating Alice" which includes the Short Story Competition Awards, Guest Speaker Wayson Choy, a silent auction and a hearty harvest dinner.
